Meditation is for your brain what going out for a run is for your lungs.
Here’s a body scan meditation that I recorded some time ago, that I would like to share.
Body scan meditations are a good way to connect to your own body.
One key aspect of trauma is the disconnection that often happens to our own bodies.
At the time of trauma, the painful experiences can overwhelm us, and a survival response is to disconnect. That disconnect can then continue, if we’re not in a position of processing said trauma.
An important step of trauma work is to be able to feel safe in your own body once again, and one way to do that is to befriend it little by little, with fx. a body scan meditation.
I will be putting up one in english at some point in time, but for now, here it is in Icelandic.
